Brian Smith Memorial Trophy

Saturday 1st February will mark the inaugural playing of the Brian Smith Memorial Trophy. This Trophy consists of 2 stroke rounds to be played by Platinum women members and is played in conjunction with the OH Paton Trophy.
Brian took up golf late in life but immediately formed a passion for the game. He joined Pymble in December 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed playing on Saturday mornings with his friends and the social golf side of Sunday golf. Brian had a wonderful sense of humour which carried over from his life into his golf. He was always great fun to play with and had a genuine interest in his playing partners. He achieved a handicap under 30 and won a Medal in his grade which gave him enormous pleasure.
Brian was very generous with his time and legal advice when required by the Club. He was very supportive of and believed in the non-gender model for the Club and his wife Robyn was one of the first Platinum members.
Brian passed away suddenly in October 2017 having played golf that morning. Brian being Brian would have found it most amusing to have his name on a cup at the Club which he could never win!
