Ladies Bowls

Published on 30th October 2019

On Monday 28 October, the finals of our only competition held, namely The Margaret Hughes Singles, was played. It was fiercely contested, taking 32 ends and a measure to have a winner, with Loi Chambers our new Champion defeating Judy Douglas. The weather, unlike previous years, was very kind to the players with cloud cover and a breeze, with a small amount of rain. It was my pleasure to mark this Match and admire the ability of both women to change the “Head”. Unfortunately, this event was not greatly supported by our members, but I wish to thank those who made the effort to be in it. Sadly, there was only a small field of players on the day, 10 in all, but we managed to have a small spectator group. Many thanks go to Sally for setting up the table for all of us where we had celebratory drinks along with a refreshing food platter.

We are approaching the end of Bowls for this year with our AGM being held on Monday 18 November, followed by bowls and lunch which will complete the season. I am calling upon willing members to avail themselves to come onto the Committee and contribute to the friendly social bowls that we have here at Pymble. There are two positions available, namely Secretary/Selector and a Selector so please give this serious though. To those who have been there before, I encourage you to contribute once again. The records that I have show this has happened in the past.

Our very last gathering will be on Monday evening 25 November with the presentation of the Men’s and Women’s trophies.
